Mercedes-Benz GLC - A SUV for keen drivers? - Interior and tech

Interior and tech

The Mercedes-Benz GLC as the name suggests is based off the C-Class saloon, and nowhere is that more obvious than in the cabin. Sharing the same dash layout and controls as the C-Class, the interior is well appointed and ergonomically sound. Central to the design is the floating screen that sits atop the dash, controlled via Mercedes-Benz’ COMAND infotainment system.

COMAND has never been the most intuitive to use, but new generations of Audi’s MMI system and BMW’s iDrive have made the Mercedes-Benz system seem even more behind the curve.

Choose colour and trim unwisely and the interior can go from attractive to overwrought too, as some of the silver plastics can jar with bright dash trims and leather options. Overall though, the cabin is solidly built, but the new Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5 have definitely lifted the game in this class.
