Mercedes-AMG C63 (W205, 2015 - 2023) – interior and tech
A classier cabin than the car that came before it, but floating non-touchscreen may irritate some
First impressions are of a very solid car that oozes the sort of quality you’d hope for from the three-pointed star. The interior is classy and more interesting than anything BMW or Audi could muster at the time. The steering-column mounted gear selector is an acquired taste, but it does leave the broad transmission tunnel attractively uncluttered. Don’t bother prodding, pinching or swiping the surface of the huge tablet-like screen however, you’ll only leave greasy fingerprints.
Like the C63 saloon, the Coupé is a fine place to be, its interior looking and feeling premium, with plenty of brightwork and detailing to lift it above the equivalent M car. Optional sports seats add some attitude - and support – but they aren’t very soft and highlight the car’s firm ride.
