Audi Q3 2019 review – just another compact SUV, but one with potential - MPG and running costs

The Audi Q3 is not a bad car, but it's lacking in key areas compared to strong rivals, while short of the quality you’d expect

Evo rating
  • Agile and spritely on-road dynamics, reasonably space efficient
  • Dull interior, lethargic powertrains, not special enough for its crowded segment

MPG and running costs

The Q3’s engines are up to date with the latest emissions regulations and WLTP certification, with mpg figures spread between high-40s for lower-powered diesels to low-30s for the 227bhp 2-litre petrol quattro. These figures might not look especially impressive, but are now vaguely representative of what you’ll actually achieve in real life.

What is undeniable is that the Q3’s relative lack of efficiency is not matched by its non-SUV alternatives, as even substantially more powerful A4 models fitted with the V6 TDi will happily crack 50mpg.
