Bologna Motor Show: Toyota FC

Mad looking concept showcases Toyota's fuel cell technology

If fuel cell power is the way forward, then let's hope the cars that encase it look like a bit like this. The FINE T, like Honda's FC Sport, is pure concept car fantasy with gull-wing doors, an interior akin to a spaceship's and wheels that turn right the way around, by the looks of things.

It's powered by a carbon neutral hydrogen fuel cell, with emphasis on minimising the environmental impact while maximising the experience for passengers. Pedestrians aren't left out either, with the crazy styling complemented by rather large alloys more at home on a Premier League footballer's Hummer.

The wheels all drive independently, with hydrogen-powered electric motors in each one, in a similar set-up to the British Lightning GT, which reverses the motors to brake the car. Whether the FINE T, or any of its features, makes it to production remains to be seen. Fingers crossed...
