Bologna: Porsche
Plenty to see as Porsche's range expands further
Porsche is quite the busy manufacturer these days, with plenty of new metal around on its Bologna motor show stand. No Panamera to be seen (perhaps a good thing in some people's eyes), the new super-saloon not getting an unveil until next year.
Instead, there was some unlikely stuff at the interesting end of Porsche's floor space - the diesel and hybrid Cayenne SUVs. No firm details on the hybrid yet, but there was a model (pictured) with cutaways and plenty of glass doors, bonnets etc that revealed the new technology. The diesel is much more concrete, hitting our shores in spring 2009 with a 3-litre V6 oil-burner producing 240bhp and a monster 406lb ft while returning a combined 30.4mpg and producing 244g/km of CO2. The car comes with Tiptronic-S auto transmission as standard for its £40,250.
The new Boxster and Cayman are also on show, complete with some alternative colour schemes (note the green exterior, tan interior roadster, almost British in style). It offers new engines and plenty of new technology, which you can read about here, with UK sales starting in February 2009, the range priced from £34-45,000.
