Polestar 2 BST 230 revealed – limited-run EV priced from £73,900

The hot new Polestar 2 BST 230 builds on the original BST Edition with design tweaks inside and out

Polestar has revealed its new 2 BST Edition 230, a limited-run model with more power and chassis focus than the ordinary car. The model follows the Edition 270 revealed last year, building on the same formula with unique design touches both inside and out. In total, 230 examples will be produced with just 25 of those bound for UK shores – prices start at £73,900.

Like the original BST Edition 270, the 230 adopts a range of trick chassis modifications for sharper dynamics. Ride height is lowered by 25mm front and rear thanks to new, stiffer springs, with a front strut bar designed to improve rigidity. The 230 also comes with bespoke 2-way adjustable Öhlins dampers, which are even more sophisticated units than those fitted to the Polestar 2 Performance Pack.

The dual-motor powertrain remains identical to the 270, with a motor mounted on each axle for outputs of 469bhp and 502lb ft of torque – the 0-62mph sprint is a tenth quicker than the standard car at 4.4sec, with the top speed unchanged at 125mph. Like the BST 270, the 230 features a 78kWh battery pack that provides up to 287 miles from a single charge.

Uprated brakes sit behind 21-inch forged wheels, with 4-piston Brembo callipers acting upon 400mm drilled and ventilated discs on the front axle – the rear axle receives single-piston callipers with 390mm discs. Pirelli has developed specific P Zero tyres for BST edition cars, with a unique compound to complement the new chassis hardware.

While the underlying formula is familiar, Polestar has given the Edition 230 a visual makeover with green Nebula paintwork, MicroSuede on the seats and steering wheel and partially-recycled materials throughout the cabin. As an option, buyers can also opt for Space black paint and exterior decals, with the Plus, Pilot and Performance Packs included in the asking price.

In total, 230 units will be produced for Europe and North American, with 25 destined for the UK. Prices start at £73,900 with first deliveries expected to commence in Q3.
