Sportier Quattroporte

While the Quattroporte was slugging it out with the Alpina B5 and Cadillac CTS-V in this month's group test, at Frankfurt Maserati was unveiling a sportier model, the Sport GT, due early '06.

Some of the changes are merely cosmetic - 20in rims, carbonfibre interior trim, alloy pedals - but there has also been an upgrade to the paddleshift's ECU that provides shifts up to 35 per cent quicker in 'Sport' mode. The Sport GT also boasts a rortier exhaust.

Maserati also revealed an even plusher version of the standard Quattroporte at Frankfurt, the Executive GT, as well as a Spyder derivative of the GranSport coupe.
