BBR supercharged MX-5

British tuning firm BBR has developed two new supercharger kits for the Mazda MX-5

UK tuning firm and well-known Mazda specialist BBR has announced two new tuning packages for the Mk3 and Mk3.5 Mazda MX-5 – taking power up to 258bhp for the most extreme 2.0i model.

The stage 1 upgrade can be applied to all 1.8 and 2.0-litre models. This package consists of an Eaton MP62 supercharger, intercooler, upgraded injectors, high-flow airbox, competition hoses and a full ECU remap to suit. All this adds up to 217bhp and for the 1.8 and 231bhp for the 2.0 Mk3 model. The later Mk3.5 model gets a slightly higher 241bhp thanks to a higher rev-limit.

Further upgrades are available, with the stage 2 package. This adds a full BBR exhaust system, including a new manifold, and a further re-map. This raises power further, to 231, 252 and 258bhp for the three models.

BBR offer the upgrade as a DIY kit, or you can take your car to their Brackley workshop where the upgrade can be fitted. The stage 1 upgrade comes in at £4995 including fitting, with the stage 2 kit coming in at £6395 fitted.
