Mercedes S-Class Coupe concept: Frankfurt motor show 2013
Mercedes S-Class coupe unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, previewing the next-generation CL model. Pictures and details here
Mercedes has revealed a new S-Class Coupe concept car at the Frankfurt motor show, which heavily hints at a new production model spun off the same platform as the S-Class saloon.
Styling of the coupe model points at how the new CL-replacing model will most likely look, featuring a similar pronounced front grille to the small four-door coupe CLA, as well as similarly styled flanks.
Mercedes describes the S-Class coupe as having typical rear-wheel drive proportions, which includes a very long bonnet and low roof. There’s a set of 21-inch wheels, and at the front full LED headlights define the sharp nose.It also features a full glass roof.
From the outside it almost looks like a production-ready proposition, but move inside and it’s pure concept, with milled aluminium door panels and large screen for both the dials and onboard computer system.
The concept is powered by the same 449bhp twin-turbo V8 as the S63 AMG, although there are very few technical details, with no confirmation of how far off a production version could be, although it is thought that we could see a production-ready version at next year’s Geneva motor show.
