Mercedes CLK
Here’s proof that Mercedes is hard at work on the next generation CLK
Yet bigger and yet a bit more elegant than the outgoing model, the new CLK (and CLK convertible likewise) will be based on the C-class saloon. It goes without saying, however, that refinement will be done to the chassis to meet expectations of the somewhat more ambitious coupé-drivers.
Visible for the first time in these exclusive shots is the uncovered overall shape of the new model which is closer to the new E-class than to the current C. Rumours therefore suggest the car will be called the E-class coupé and will loose its traditional name CLK. Engines, on the other hand, will come from the C-class line-up and will include a V8 for a CLK 500.
We expect the car to arrive at the dealers in summer 2009 with the soft-top following just a few months later.
