McLaren Senna lifted to 890bhp by Novitec
Novitec’s take on the McLaren Senna has more power than even the track-only GTR
Boasting performance figures you’d only expect to find in a track-only machine not long ago, the McLaren Senna is the absolute pinnacle of the road-going automobile. Of course, even this doesn’t deter Novitec, and so it has decided to tune it further still…
Limited to just 500 units worldwide, the standard Senna sports McLaren’s latest 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, sending 789bhp and 590lb ft of torque to the rear wheels. Should this not be enough for you, new mapping for injection, ignition and electronic boost control can be had through the tuner’s ‘N-Tronic’ modules.

Thanks to a trio of new ‘piggyback’ ECU modules of differing power levels, numbers can be lifted to 890bhp and 655lb ft of torque without any additional hardware – that’s an extra 101bhp and 65lb ft of torque, 77bhp more than the seven-figure, track-only GTR. Combine this new power with a 1198kg (dry) kerb weight, and you’ll receive a rather impressive 743bhp-per-ton power-to-weight figure, 59bhp per ton up on the lightened GTR.
Though the Senna’s USP lies in its cornering abilities, straight-line performance has seen a predictable improvement, lowering the 0-62mph sprint by a tenth to only 2.7sec, covering the 0-120mph sprint in 6.5sec and going on to its factory top speed of 211mph.
Coming as standard with the range-topping tuning module is a new exhaust system, constructed from high-tech Inconel for weight reduction and offering more sound. The system replaces the triple, top-exit tips with larger dual tips finished in either polished stainless steel or matte black. Should you not want to make drastic hardware changes to your special-edition McLaren, a simple module can permanently fix the factory exhaust valves open.
Despite Novitec's tendency to add extreme aero components where it might not be entirely necessary, the Senna has thankfully avoided this treatment. A staggered 20- and 21-inch set of forged center-lock wheels are the only visual change over the standard car – the new wheels can be had in 72 different colors and either brushed or polished finishes.
As on all of its products, customers can opt to have the interior reupholstered in whatever colour they’d like, in a combination of high-quality leather or Alcantara.
Pricing and availability for these modifications is yet to be announced.
