Jaguar XF R-Sport Black joins updated XF range

Specification changes and a new trim level mark a revised XF range

Jaguar has launched a new R-Sport Black derivative of its XF executive car to boost its appeal before a new model makes its first appearance later in the year.

The R-Sport Black joins a revised range that sees the SE, SE Business and Premium Luxury trims discontinued, while remaining variants see improved equipment levels.

The revisions should ensure the XF’s strong sales continue until a new model is launched – an all-new XF is expected to debut later this year. Contrary to usual patterns, XF sales have increased every year since the model’s launch.

R-Sport Black trim pairs the familiar 2.2-litre, 200PS turbocharged diesel with 20in Black Kalimnos alloy wheels, black trim details on the car’s exterior and a similarly dark hue throughout the interior.

Colours are a little less limited than the name might suggest, with Ultimate Black joining Kyanite Blue (limited to 100 units), Italian Racing Red, Glacier White and Stratus Grey on the options list. Inside, there’s a standard 770w Meridian Surround Sound system, while Jaguar boasts £8770 of other upgrades over R-Sport trim despite a price premium of only £2100 over the same model.

R-Sport Black sits above revised R-Sport and Luxury models in the XF range, and below Portfolio, XFR and XFR-S models. Pricing starts at £33,445 for the range and £38,350 for the new model, while Sportbrake estates command a £2500 premium across the range.
