Ferrari 488 GTB – MPG and running costs

Impossibly fast when new and still has all the performance you could possibly use on the road today

Evo rating
  • Magnificent powertrain, sublime chassis
  • Misses the noise and response of the NA V8s

The Ferrari uses some fuel and if you have to ask how much it costs to run, you probably can’t afford it. On a serious note, Ferrari claims 24.8mpg on the combined cycle and its 3.9-litre V8 produces 260g/km of CO2. Every new Ferrari also comes with a seven-year general maintenance programme and a standard three-year warranty.

In reality, driven in a way to enjoy its performance, a 488 GTB will return low to mid teens mpg, single figures on track. On the run back from the north-east of Scotland on evo Car of the Year 2015, we averaged 22mpg, which isn’t to be sniffed at considering an Aventador SV returned exactly half that.

Ferrari's factory-backed, comprehensive standard warranty covers four years, and extensions up to 12 years are also available. A Ferrari Genuine Maintenance programme is also offered on all new models, covering all scheduled maintenance for the first seven years, with unlimited mileage and no restriction on annual servicing - so if you cover unusually high mileage, the package will allow you to get the car serviced more than once a year.
