This week on evo - Mercedes A45 AMG, Ariel Nomad and more

A look at the most exciting things from the world of evo this week

It’s been a busy week at evo.co.uk. We've been to Germany for the N24, experienced the joys of the Ariel Nomad and turned green with envy at the arrival of two America-exclusive performance cars.

What’s been your favourite story this week?

N24 live – evo brings you everything from the Nurburgring 24 Hours race

It was almost as gruelling as taking part, but we worked round the clock to bring you coverage of one of the world’s most demanding endurance races. From behind the scenes photography to exclusive interviews, our live feature was updated from the paddock, trackside and forests of the Nurburgring.

With stunning imagery and quotes from the likes of endurance legends Peter Dumbreck and Darren Turner, as well as Falken Motorsport, Dunlop tyres and journalist turned part time racer, Chris Harris, our live piece was one of the best ways to sample the true spirit of the N24.

Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG review

Staff writer Antony Ingram climbs behind the wheel of Mercedes’ snorting A45 AMG to see if a 355bhp hot hatch can take on the likes of the Audi RS3 and Renaultsport Megane Trophy.

As the spec sheet suggests, performance is staggering, but straight-line speed aside, is the A45 actually fun to drive? Antony provides his verdict.

Ask Goodwin – classic cars or bikes?

Colin Goodwin discusses whether his preference for classic motoring includes four or two wheels. Having ridden and driven with the likes of Richard Hammond and James May, our columnist is well placed to offer judgement.

He’s owned a fair few old bikes and cars too, but given the choice to stick with just one, which would he choose?

Ariel Nomad review on the roads of Exmoor

Henry Catchpole drives Ariel’s bonkers new off-roader along B-roads of Exmoor. The Nomad is a far cry from Ariel’s usual creations, trading a firm chassis setup for something that can handle the jumps and bumps of tougher terrain.

As Ariel’s first attempt at making a proper off-roader, can the Nomad still entertain like its more track-focused siblings?

Chevrolet Camaro is fastest ever

Chevrolet has confirmed its sixth-generation Camaro will produce as much as 455bhp in top V8-spec, making it the fastest Camaro ever. It also gains five other new engines that mix added potency with better efficiency, making it appear a serious threat to European rivals.

There’s a catch however: it’s not coming to the UK through any official channels. But it’ll still be fascinating to watch the Camaro versus Ford Mustang battle unfold from the other side of the Atlantic.
