Caterham Supersport R
Caterham has revealed a new Supersport R model, which adds a 180bhp engine and some chassis upgrades to the lightweight road going Supersport.
Caterham has added a new 180bhp model to its Seven line-up, achieved by slotting the 2.0-litre Duratec engine into the 1.6-litre supersport – a model which has recently shown huge popularity.
Upgrades over the standard Supersport include a set of Avon CR500 tyres, race springs with supersport dampers – a setup which is said to keep the Supersport R the best on-road compromise. The addition of a limited slip differential helps the Supersport R get its power down more effectively too.
Inside is basic, and as standard, you get a bespoke Supersport R steering wheel with integrated change-up light, lightweight composite seats and four-point race harnesses.
All-in, the Supersport R weighs just 535kg, giving this Seven a power to weight ratio of 336bhp/ton. It’s priced at £24,995 as a build-it-yourself kit, or £27,995 built and ready to go.
