Alfa Romeo 8C

8C Competizione to become a limited-run production model in 2007

Alfa Romeo has confirmed that it will put its beautiful 8C Competizione concept car into limited-run production.

The two-seater coupe is widely based on Maserati running gear, from the 4.7-litre V8 to the suspension, and is reminiscent of the great TZ coupes Alfa made in the '60s.

The car will feature a six-speed paddle-shift gearbox and will produce 444bhp. Given that it's a carbonfibre body over a steel chassis, that should mean TVR-level performance.

Early estimates put the price at over £100,000, though with only 500 being made, it might be an idea to put your name down now if you want one parked in your drive for Christmas next year.

For more details see next month’s evo, on sale 27 Sept.
