evo Track Car of the Year – Ariel Nomad onboard video

Is an Ariel Nomad as good on track as it is off-road? Find out in our latest Track Car of the Year onboard video

Watching an Ariel Nomad tear around a circuit is exactly as amusing as you think it would be. It’s even more amusing to drive, as we found out on this year’s evo Track Car of the Year event.

A car largely designed for looser surfaces, it’s nevertheless lightweight, powerful, raw and playful, all qualities that make it a riot on a track.

While it wasn’t the fastest – only the beautiful Alfaholics GTA-R and the heavier, less powerful SEAT Leon Cupra 280 Sub8 were slower around a lap, and the SEAT only just – it’s hilarious fun and does something no other car in this year’s test can do: go off-road.

Not only can it do so but it’s also brilliant on loose surfaces. You can see just how much fun it is in our gravel group test video.

You can ride on board with the Nomad’s lap in the video above. For our full Track Car video, head over here – and if you want to read the full feature, you can find it in issue 220 of evo.
