Mercedes AMG GT vs Porsche 911 and rivals - 5 AMG GT rivals: Chevrolet Corvette
Just being considered on this list would have been a very big deal for the two-seat Chevvy not long ago. The memories of poorly built, old-fashioned Corvettes are still relatively fresh, but the latest car is on a whole new level to make it a serious contender to the AMG GT. Power comes from a Jag-shrinking 6.2-litre V8 producing 455bhp and hurtling the Yank-two-door from 0-60 in 3.8sec.
It does everything the Porsche does, not quite as well as the Porsche, but whilst possessing a chunk more charm. Much like the Jag, it’s a bit aggressive and quite rude, but more so than the Jag, it’s a very sharp tool. And priced at £61,495, it’s a comparable bargain.
Granted, the interior is a slightly less nice place to be - it’s probably the least luxurious in this group – but for its price it at least confirms money has been spent in all the right places: the powertrain and chassis.
