Senna McLaren artwork at Nurburgring Auction

Ayrton Senna McLaren artwork, rare Maserati MC12 special and Ferrari F1 car at Nurburgring Coys auction

Another day, another auction picture gallery. But August 13’s Coys auction at the Nurburgring should prove to be just as special as Monterey’s RM Auction. Top billing in our eyes doesn’t even belong to a car, instead a stunning piece of Airfix kit-like art starring Ayrton Senna’s 1991 championship winning McLaren MP4/6 F1 car. It was created by artist Jay Burridge after Ron Dennis gave him the Brazilian driver’s car. It has previously been displayed at a ‘Remembering Ayrton Senna’ exhibition ten years after the racer’s death, which involved removing the Marlboro logos to avoid breaching tobacco advertising laws. With interest in Senna peaking after the release of the ‘Senna’ film recently, now seems the time to move the artwork on. An estimate of 35-45,000 euros (around £30-40K) strikes us as good value, considering the legendary item the sculpture consists of. Providing you’ve big enough wall to display it, of course. Other auction highlights include a 2006 Maserati MC12 Corsa, one of only 12 produced and the only road legal version of a rare supercar. It’s suitably estimated at 700-850,000 euros (£600-750K). You can save a bit of cash by bidding on a delivery mileage MC12 road car, estimated at £500-600K.  One of the cheapest cars at the Coys auction is set to be lot 118, a 1980 Porsche 924 Carrera GT. Around £30,000 could secure you a rare, special edition baby Porsche decribed as ‘ideal for use in rallies or hillclimbs’. Browse the gallery below and click here to see the full auction list.
