400bhp tuned BBR Ford Focus RS

Ford tuning specialist BBR creates the 400bhp Ford Focus RS, complete with suspension tweaks

Another tuning company has modified the Ford Focus RS. This time it’s BBR, with its 20 years of Ford tweaking experience, and you’ve a number of different levels of tune to choose from. The hardest hitting is Phase Four, dubbed ‘RS400’. This provides 404bhp and 408lb ft of torque, achieved via a new turbocharger and a modified fuel system. Those are respective rises of 104bhp and 84lb ft over the standard car’s 300bhp/324lb ft, and will set you back £3895. Add £595 for a day’s installation, though you can forgo this cost if you’re willing to fit the kit yourself. If that sounds steep, then worry not, as BBR has three lower levels of tuning. Phase One costs £595 and provides 342bhp/369lb ft via a remapped ECU and new silicone induction hose, Phase Two is £1245 (plus £195 fitting) and serves up 355bhp/378lb ft courtesy of more ECU tweaking and a high flow intercooler, while Phase Three is £2495 (£345 fitting) and produces 382bhp/388lb ft thanks to the addition of a 3in stainless steel exhaust and larger fuel injectors. And in contrast to some Focus RS tuners, BBR has also considered the car’s ride and handling on top of its power output. ‘BBR has discovered that the standard Focus RS suspension is extremely harsh and uncomfortable for every day’, says the press release. It’s apparently solvable, though, with the BBR Performance Spring Set, which aims for a more comfortable car as well as lowering its ride height. It costs £195 (£300 fitting). There’s also the option of BBR Koni adjustable dampers, which can be specced with or without the BBR springs, and cost £795 (£300 fitting). Click here for more information from BBR Find out about the 345bhp Mountune Focus RS Read our road test of the Ford Focus RS500 We drive the tuned Ford Focus RS GGR340
