Alfa Romeo Brera S

Alfa's latest development of the Brera will appeal to enthusiasts everywhere

A more sporty chassis was the design goal for a limited edition Brera, a vehicle which, while building on the traditional values of the stock car's flair and individualism, was able to communicate more effectively with road and driver.

Enter motorsport specialist and suspension guru Prodrive, who spent 12 months testing and developing revised suspension and chassis settings. The result is the Brera S.

Ride height was lowered 10mm, spring rates increased by over 50 per cent and fettled geometry and damping rates employed. Coupled with new 19-inch Alfa 8C Competizione-inspired lightweight alloys, hollow anti-roll bars and some aluminium suspension hardware, unsprung weight has been appreciably reduced, creating a tighter turning, more communicative driver's car.

At the back, the exhaust has been reshaped (and retuned on the V6) to mimic the rear lights' appearance and inside there are trim and styling changes to remind owners that they're driving something a bit special.

A production run of 500 vehicles is planned and prices start at £24,950 for the 2.2 JTS version, rising to £28,450 for the V6 3.2 JTS.
