Final Lamborghini Aventador coupe hits the road

Lamborghini has built its very last Aventador Ultimae coupe, and it’s now in the hands of its lucky owner

The Aventador Ultimae is a swansong for Lamborghini’s V12 supercar, and now the very last coupe has been handed over to its owner. To give it a proper sendoff Lamborghini auctioned it off earlier this year under rather unique conditions, with the top bidder receiving both the physical car and a virtual replica in the form of an NFT. The winning bid was $1.6m (c£1.3m).

Over a decade after it entered production, the Ultimae is the final edition of the Aventador, sharing its powertrain with the SVJ that also gives it the highest output that’s been on offer throughout its lifespan. So while the Ultimae was already limited in number, this last example of the 350 coupes is more exclusive still, coming with a unique Ad Personam scheme and that virtual NFT replica, the first Lamborghini for the ‘Metaverse’.

Designed by digital artist Krista Kim and applied via Lamborghini’s Ad Personam customisation program, both the physical and virtual car feature a blue gradient colour scheme inside and out, inspired by the ‘Mars Metaverse Sunset’ – the livery combines the striking Blue Nethuns shade and Nero Noctis to achieve the effect.

Inside, the aerography spray painting technique has been used for the first time in a Lamborghini, with orange embroidery and exclusive orange sill plate lighting (as opposed to the standard white) signifying its status. Performance remains identical to other Ultimae variants, with its 6.5-litre naturally-aspirated V12 sending 769bhp and 531lb ft of torque to all four wheels for a 2.8sec 0-62mph time and 220mph top speed.

Lamborghini has also collaborated with 2 time Grammy-nominated music producer Steve Aoki for the creation of an exclusive soundtrack for the NFT replica – exactly how this will be implemented remains to be seen. As part of the package, the buyer was also granted a 15-minute virtual meet and greet with Aoki and Krista Kim.

Other VIP benefits also come with the purchase of the final Aventador, including exclusive virtual previews of future limited edition models, a private tour of the Lamborghini Museum, exclusive invitations to activities with their local dealer and one time access to the Lamborghini VIP experience.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, said: ‘Lamborghini and the NFT community fit together very well, as we share many values. We are both young-spirited innovators, looking out for unexpected projects and technological solutions. This project is very special for us as it is a true first, a path nobody has ever taken; to collaborate with such outstanding creative minds makes it all the more special.’

The final Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae sold for $1.6m (c£1.3m) with RM Sotheby’s.
