Special edition Mitsubishi ASX Black

Mitsubishi unveils a specced up version of its ASX crossover, with new alloys and leather

Mitsubishi ASX Black special edition

Mitsubishi has revealed a special edition ASX.  The ASX Black is a specced up version of the brand’s surprisingly fun-to-drive small crossover, with visual modifications in line with its name: a satin black styling kit, black 17in alloys, roof, spoiler, side mirrors and grille. There’s identically hued leather on the interior. The car itself has six different exterior colour options (only one of which is black) while there’ll be a choice of two engines, a 115bhp/114lb ft 1.6-litre petrol (with a five-speed manual gearbox) and a 147bhp/221lb ft 1.8-litre diesel (six-speed manual). Front-wheel drive is standard, but the diesel boasts the option of Mitsubishi’s AWC four-wheel-drive system. Standard kit includes sat-nav, a reversing camera and iPod connectivity as well as a stop/start system and energy recuperating brakes to aid economy figures. The front-wheel-drive ASX diesel combines 51mpg fuel economy with 145g/km CO2 emissions. ASX Blacks cost £1000 more than equivalent ASX 4s, with prices ranging from £21,099 for a 1.6 petrol to £25,399 for a 4WD diesel.
