Jaguar XJ at Salon Privé
Jaguar's new XJ sports saloon makes its first public appearance at Salon Privé
Jaguar’s groundbreaking new XJ saloon has been seen by the public for the first time.
As well as a bunch of new technology and a decidedly modern interior, the car boasts its first major styling change since the XJ was first drawn up in the late 1960s.
Gone is the low bootlid, twin front headlights and curved, sculptured bonnet – in comes clean modern lines and a sizeable frame, with hints of the smaller Jaguar XF but with the boldness turned up to 11.
Despite the controversial restyle, orders were being taken at the show and punter reaction seemed very positive. Sighs of relief at Jaguar, then.
The interior intends to carry on where the XF leaves off, but is different in concept. There’s a lot more visible wood (which wraps around from doors to dashboard) and much more intricate detailing, including a very prestige clock and air vents. Space still appears to be at a premium in the rear, although the long wheelbase version should see to that.Click here to read our full insight and watch our new Jaguar XJ videos.
